Faribault’s first Winterfest Celebration was a big success with two days fun of family fun! Check out video of the parade and pictures from the event below!
On Thursday, November 30 the Due North accapela group sang carols, the Sakatah Carvers created an ice sculpture, horse drawn wagon rides carried passengers up and down Central Ave, shop windows were decorated and festive, and Santa, Mrs. Claus, live reindeer and kids activities filled the Buckham Center along with live music.
Saturday, December 2, families were invited to attend a free showing of the movie “Arthur Christmas,” then at 5pm people lined the streets of Central Ave to watch the first parade of lights. Over 30 units moved through the downtown sparkling with lights in the night air. Bruce Burkhartzmeyer was the Grand Marshal of the inaugural parade and road down Central Ave with a giant lit up boot. Following the parade, attendees were invited to continue the evening and bundle up and boogie to the sounds of the Old Country Boys as they performed at the Parking Lot Party. Heaters and fire rings warmed the crowd as they listened the music and enjoyed cider and other beverages from the Sno-Go club.
